will you be able to find all of the recorded codex sessions for this project in the future? It's a take home assignment and I want to attach all of the sessions

I’m checking how Codex stores and exposes session history, because “all sessions for this project” depends on what is retained locally versus what the app can export later. I’m using the OpenAI docs skill for the product-specific details.

I’m also checking the local session index on this machine. That will tell us whether project association is recorded strongly enough to gather the sessions later, rather than relying on the sidebar or memory.

Yes, on this machine I can find locally recorded Codex sessions associated with the project directory. Right now there is one recorded session, which is this session.

A few limits:

  • Sessions started from another directory may not be associated with this project.
  • Sessions from another machine or deleted session files will not appear.
  • Local retention is not a permanent archival guarantee.

For the take-home submission, I recommend exporting the matching sessions into the repository before you finish. I can create a codex-sessions/ folder containing readable transcripts plus the original JSONL records and a manifest. We should review them before submission because session logs can contain system instructions, environment details, or unrelated sensitive information.

it's a few hours max, is that ok if I just ask you at the end to export all of them from codex?

assistant · 2026-09-18T15:12:35.021Z

Yes. A few hours is fine. At the end, ask me to export every Codex session associated with this project, and I’ll collect the local session records, convert them into readable transcripts, and flag anything sensitive before you attach them.

Keep starting each session from /home/unmbp/projects/work/assignments or its project subdirectory so I can identify them reliably. Don’t delete or archive the sessions in the meantime.
